I now work for a charity called One in a Million and they are AWESOME!!! ;D I have only been there a week and i am LOVING it!!!!
Here's a bit about what they do:
‘One in a Million’ is the result of two men carrying similar visions. Wayne Jacobs (Bradford City FC Assistant Manager) and Matt Band (Local Businessman and Entrepreneur) who came together and formed a charity set on challenging the statistics that are placed against the lives of children and young people in Bradford. As the Bradford City FC Community Partner One in a Million uses Sports, Arts and Enterprise as a means to engage and enthuse children and young people struggling to overcome issues of crime, poverty, exclusion, drugs, solvent abuse and obesity. We aim to improve their health, skills, confidence and self-esteem in a fun and safe environment, whilst bringing together young people from different ethnic backgrounds, breaking down barriers, racial tensions and building community cohesion.
One in a Million was set up in 2005, with 7 children attending our first football session on the Canterbury Estate, now we have over 750 children and young people per week attending our sessions which include, football, athletics, basketball, street dance, Kwik Cricket, Bradford City Girls Centre of Excellence and Extended Schools work. Through this we help each child and young person involved understand that each and every one of them has value, they have something to offer and they are all 'One in a Million' ** Bradford is our passion!** ** Every child matters ** ** Every child is ‘One in a Million’ **
